Richmond has one quirk that catches people out: the football. On a home game day, Punt Road clogs up, Swan Street fills with crowds walking towards the MCG, and the side streets turn into a parking free-for-all. Add the tennis in January and the concerts at Rod Laver Arena, and plenty of weekends are a bad time to be reversing a truck.

So before our house movers lock in a time or a date, we check what all things are on. Mover Melbourne moves people in and out of Richmond, and a quick look at the fixtures often changes the plan. Maybe it’s an early start before the crowds arrive, a Sunday morning instead of a Saturday, or a weekday when the streets are quiet. Sometimes the best advice we can give is to pick a different day from your chosen date.

The homes bring their own challenges. Victorian terraces have narrow hallways and tight front doors, and the apartments above the shops on Swan Street and Bridge Road often mean a steep staircase straight off the footpath. Removalists Richmond work out where the truck can stop and how far the carry will be. There are no uncalled surprises when we arrive.
