Most people we move in Point Cook aren’t new to the suburb. They’ve been here a few years, the kids have outgrown their rooms, the spare room has turned into a home office, and the place that felt roomy at the start is now bursting at the seams. So they’re moving somewhere bigger, or just a few streets over.

Which means a lot of the job is kids’ stuff. Bunk beds that need unbolting, cubby houses, toy boxes, a trampoline that’s been out in the weather. Mover Melbourne works across Point Cook every few times in a while, and our furniture movers learned to load the beds last so they come off first. At least everyone has somewhere to sleep that night.

Streets here can be fiddly too. Lots of crescents and cul-de-sacs, cars parked on the nature strip, and the sea breeze picking up in the afternoon. Removalists Point Cook look at the street layout beforehand so the truck isn’t blocking a neighbour’s driveway, and we’d usually move the big outdoor stuff early, before the wind gets going.
